Green Island Police have had one legitimate reported case of this occurring in the Village.

Police are giving the following advice to avoid being scammed:

People should be cautious of giving credit card information over the phone unless it is a call that they initiate.

Legitimate companies or corporations, or bail bondsman will never ask people to purchase prepaid credit cards to purchase items or pay fees.

Be skeptical. Check a business name and phone number on the internet.

If you are not sure the call is legitimate, contact the local police at 9-1-1 before sending money or providing personal information.
